Stefano Bacati

I was born in 1957 in Florence, where I realized my personal and artistic growth. During the High School I attended the workshop of Mario Romoli, Florentine painter. He was the protagonist of twentieth-century culture in Tuscany and author of many frescos, among them the one in Piazza della Calza - Florence. In the same years attended the faculty of civil engineering.

I could improve the technique of trompe l'oeil attending the dedicated Course of the decoration in Palazzo Spinelli (Florence). Trompe l’oeil creates the illusion of space and objects on canvas or wall. Following the way of eye deception, I specialized in the painting technique of inlaid marble and fake wood, using it both in small pieces (as furniture and desk objects) and in the large wall spaces.

My most recent works have focused on the Benedictine Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore in Asciano (Siena), with the execution of an altar frontal in faux marble inlay, different decorations in the Palazzo Davanzati (12th century) in Florence and in numerous offices and private homes.
